Dream in Grain: A Lomographic Prom with Whisper Doll & Kitsch
Written by Chloe Fuller
“What do you get when a shoegaze prom queen links up with a style mag that treats sparkles like gospel? One of the most unforgettable nights to hit The Bowery Electric. The band Whisper Doll teamed up with Kitsch Magazine for a dreamlike, DIY Prom night that merged music, fashion, film, and feverish community energy. Lomography was lucky enough to attend the affair, setting up a Lomo’Instant Wide Glass photobooth for slow-dance selfies and corsage close-ups, and the night drew analogue photographers like moths to a disco ball.”

Whisper Doll on OhMyRockness – May 25, 2025
Written by Patrick McNamara
“Whisper Doll is a gentle dream rock band led by NYC-based singer/songwriter/guitarist, Fiona Lynn. If you like those sweetly shimmering bands of the '90s like, say, The Sundays or Mazzy Star, you really owe it to yourself to give this sweetly shimmering band of the NOW a dedicated listen. Here is an excellent song off their album *Perfume Garden* to help get you started. Hope you love listening to it. And then go see them play. Whisper Doll, take me away.”

Rrrat City Records Show Review
“Daysies, Whisper Doll, War Machine, Wince at The Broadway NYC – April 4, 2025”
“Whisper Doll was bliss-gaze. Their frontwoman freely ad-libbed sweet melodies in a register that floated above the instrumentation. Except for lead guitar, which picked melodies of their own that swung around high like a kite together with the vocals. We dug their bassist's five-string and they also had cool merch that they were slinging out of a suitcase.”

Deli Magazine Album Review: *Perfume Garden*
“Sit beneath her tree and dream…”
“On Friday, October 25th, NYC-based band Whisper Doll released their debut album, *Perfume Garden*. Echoing the likes of The Sundays, Katie Jane Garside, and Mazzy Star and touching on themes of spirituality within nature and music, connection and relationships, coming of age and living under the patriarchy, *Perfume Garden* is a collection of 11 songs full of magical images, precious moments, drifting dreams, and watery, flowing words.”

Haloscope Magazine: “Whistling in Whisper Doll’s Garden”
“*Perfume Garden*, Whisper Doll's debut album, was released on October 25th. Each song is like a dream rock Garden of Eden, with fantastical Mazzy Star-esque vocals. The band’s live shows are the same, with venues and basements bathed in a familiar blue glow. For the album release party, co-sponsored by Kitsch Magazine, crowds of girls dressed like dolls came to sing along feverishly to "Doe Eyes." A couple of days before the show, we chatted about artist's identity, stage style, and visual language.”

Off The Record Press: “Whisper Doll Ahead of Their Candlelit Show”
“New York City based band, Whisper Doll, creates music reminiscent of dreamy soft pop using the classic rock format of guitar, bass and drums. Whisper Doll kicks it up a notch, combining velvety-reverbed vocals with a darker instrumental backing. The entirety of the live band includes Fiona (vocals and guitar), Maya (guitar), Kara (bass), and Shawn (drums). Whisper Doll’s latest project is a ten-track album, *Perfume Garden*, which was released at the end of October.”

Kitsch Magazine Album Review: “To the Perfume Garden”
“Whisper Doll, with her babydoll dress and face, shatters the ‘wall of noise’ that often defines shoegaze music. Her voice is an idiosyncratic blend of sweetness and grit, like sugar-coated cherries in a pink depression-glass bowl. On a night where a lover broke your heart, she is the most decadent dessert. Despite an intense brawl and sob-session, all you remember is that lick-your-fingers-clean treat that tasted like nothing else–and you want more.”

Bside Blog Review: ““Lady In Blue”: A Haunting Reverie”
“"The track, with its lush, reverb-drenched soundscapes, finds its resonance alongside the emotive depths of bands like Wisp and Slowdive, crafting a mood that is simultaneously introspective and expansive. “Lady in Blue” serves as a poignant exploration of isolation and the fading light of presence, inviting listeners into its immersive sonic world.”
